Ernest Nesby Dixon, Jr.

Ernest N. Dixon Jr, 74, of Belton, Texas, peacefully passed away during the early morning of February 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at Dossman Funeral Home at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Services will be conducted by Randy Hozlclaw with burial services to follow at the North Belton Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening at Dossman Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. JR was born April 19, 1940 in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Ernest Dixon and Violet "Polly" Rhea Dixon. He married his wife of 54 years and the love of his life, Sue Dixon, on September 16, 1960 in Crossville. After traveling and working throughout much of the United States and beyond, he moved his family to Belton and founded his company, Dixon Paving, Inc. in 1974. He ran his company until 2004 when health issues forced him to retire. Dixon Paving, Inc. is currently still operating under family management by his son, Jeff Dixon. They proudly celebrated 40 years of service in 2014. JR was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by his wife, Sue Dixon; his son, Jeff Dixon; his daughter, Darla Shepherd and her husband David; his grandchildren, Kristen Dixon-Prater and her husband Dustin, Stephanie Shepherd, Michael Shepherd, Katherine Dixon, David Shepherd and Sarah Shepherd; his sister, Frances Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nell Danley, Jean Hurst, and Florence Fislar; niece, Linda Hurst and nephew David Danley. Pallbearers will be Benny Boyd, Don Cast, Sam Dixon, Albert Hurst, Phil Hurst, Larry Jaynes, Gary Jones, Raymond Renfro and Jimmy Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pat Adamson, Charles Autry, Jamie Erwin, Buddy Fislar, Don Grobowsky, Michael Taylor and Vic Taylor.
