Service for Alton Irvin Edgar will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Alton Edgar died Saturday, February 21, 2015 in a Belton nursing home. He was born October 11, 1930 in Florence, TX to Robert Edgar, and Bessie Sue(Fowler) Edgar. He spent the majority of his life in the Belton area. He was a dedicated employee of McLane Trucking for many years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 15 and served 8 months and 28 days, at which time they discovered he was not of age and issued him an honorable discharge. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Mary Alice (Tubbs) Edgar; and daughter Judy Elaine Heaton, and son-in law Richard Heaton; sisters, Lena Mae Mackey and Betty Jo Glenn. He is survived by grandchildren, Matthew Heaton, Shelley (Heaton) Offer, Sean Heaton, Melissa Heaton; great grandchildren, Madelyn Offer, Avery Offer, Zachary Heaton, Wyatt Heaton, Lakota Miller, Aiden Heaton, Austin Heaton and many nieces and nephews.
