Louis "Al" Peters Al Peters, 72, of Oenaville, died peacefully in his home after a lengthy battle with multiple myloma on Tuesday. There will be a memorial at the Belton Nazarene Church at 1701 Sparta Rd honoring his memory on August 8, 2015, at 3 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to wear red and white to honor his devotion to the University of Houston. He was born January 5, 1943, in Taylor, Texas to Louis and Floy Peters. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1961 and attended Temple Junior College. While living in Temple, he worked at the H.E.B. grocery store. When the new H.E.B. store opened by Temple High School, he became the Produce Manager. Al met the love of his life, Carol Wilson, in 1962. Al and Carol were married on November 27, 1964 at the Belton Nazarene Church. They moved to Houston where Al attended the University of Houston. He received a Bachelors of Business Administration and later completed his Masters degree in accounting. After working briefly for Exxon, he soon got a job working for Union Texas Petroleum as an accountant and remained there until he retired over thirty years later. Al and Carol retired to their farm in Oenaville, Texas, in 2001. Al was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Al was confirmed into the Lutheran church in Taylor, Texas, on June 9, 1957. He attended Belton Nazarene Church with his wife for the last fifteen years, acting as accountant for much of his time there. Al was a dog lover and had numerous dogs at his farm and spent his spare time following University of Houston sports and collecting vintage radio shows. Al went through surgery for a malignant tumor on his spine in 1986 in Houston. That began the long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with multiple myloma in 2002. With the help of Dr. Christian Cable and the team at the Scott and White Cancer Center, Al battled cancer for thirteen years. Al is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Floy Peters; grandparents, Louis and Lena Peters of Taylor and Homer and Martha Kinter of Temple along with his younger brother David Peters of Spring, Texas. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Carol of Oenaville; two sons Brent (Betty) of Oenaville and Steven (Lori) of Belton, brother Rodney (Linda) of Louisville, Kentucky; sister-in-law Barbara; grandchildren Alysia Winn, T.J. Winn, Mackenzie Peters, Dalton Peters, and Bailey Peters; nephew Jason Peters, niece Dawn Goodwin and two great nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Belton Nazarene Church, P.O. Box 596, Belton, Texas
