Bill Harris

Funeral services for Bill J. Harris, 89, of Belton will be held at 11:00 AM, October 26, 2015, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Tom Bever officiating. Burial will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Harris passed away October 19, 2015 in a Belton nursing home. Bill was born May 16, 1926 in Wellington, Texas to Lee and Pearl (Shumate) Harris. He served in the U.S. Army with Company C 31st Infantry, during World War II. While serving he received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Army Occupation Ribbon (Japan), Victory Ribbon and three Overseas Service Bars. Bill married the love of his life, Mary Rector on January 15, 1949 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of Belton Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Larry L. Harris and wife Shawn and Leslie A. Harris and wife Fran; a daughter, Debra L. Payne and husband Mike; a sister, Sharon Sue Anthony; four grandchildren, Kayla Potts and husband Luke, Beth Uszynski and husband Adam, Katherine Harris and Lawson Harris and two great grandchildren, Emily and Drew Potts. Visitation will be Sunday October, 25 from 5 to 7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home.
