Kay Allen Shriner was born on October 29, 1946 in Ransom, Kansas to Hillard and Ruth (Wallace) Allen. An active member of Christ Church, she was a former secretary at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Belton and Austin Avenue Methodist Church in Waco. Kay was involved with the Salvation Army's Feed My Sheep Program , as an usher and with various Women’s Groups. She was also a strong supporter of Christ Church School.
After standing beside her husband and traveling the world for 20 years in the Army, Kay still loved to visit new places including a 62 day trip to Alaska last Summer. Quilting was a favorite hobby and she created many “T” Shirt quilts for many friends and family members. Many of the quilts she created reflected her desire to see new places.
Over the last 15 years, Kay hosted the annual 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks at the Ranch for friends from all over the States.
Kay was united in marriage to David Shriner on February 19, 1964 in Geneseo, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband David, son Steven Shriner of Temple and his wife Donna, and her daughter Laura McCreary and husband Joe of Justin, Texas. She was the loving grandmother to five girls, two boys, and one great grandson. Also surviving is her twin brother Ken of Texas, three sisters in Kansas, her brother in law and three sisters in law from Kansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made in her honor to Feed My Sheep through the Christ Episcopal Church, 300 North Main, Temple, Texas 76501.
