Was born in Belton Texas on August 12, 1935. He was the son of Paul and Guadalupe Arraisa Vargas
He joins his sisters Josie Martinez, Eva Trevino, Ramona Sauceda and brothers Santos and Raymond Vargas. Sister Helen Trevino is the only remaining survivor. Leon lived in the Central Texas area most of his life. Leon was married to Amelia Vargas Valdez. They had 3 children Leonardo Paul Vargas , LeRoy Vargas and Yolanda Trevino. Leon had two daughter-in-law's Penny Vargas and Vanessa Vargas . Grandchildren Crystal Warren, Misty Tomlinson, Amelia Vargas, Amanda Vargas, Erika Vargas, Samantha Gartin, Chris Vargas, Gabbie Hiller and Nolen Vargas.
Great grandchildren Cason Schmidt, Cylis and Rory Castillo, Conner and Christian Tomlinson, Logan, Tucker and Madeline Gartin.
Leon lived in Belton when he entered the Marine Corp at a young age. After serving in Korea he was promoted to Sargent. He was a welder by trade. Leon loved life, good food and a good conversation. He loved his children and God.
