Iris Kneese

September 5, 1932 — April 6, 2016

Iris May Martin Kneese, 83, beloved wife, mother, and Nana was called home on 6th day of April, 2016. She was born on September 5, 1932 in Colorado City, Texas to Jack Ado and Florence Alma Christopher Martin.

Iris grew up in Colorado City, Texas. She graduated from Colorado City High School where she lettered in Basketball. After high school she joined the Mitchell County Quartet and performed in various venues, the quartet eventually made a record but Iris wanted to follow her older sister Alena and so she enrolled at Scott and White Nurses Training in Temple Texas. This is where she met and fell in love with her future husband Roy Kneese

Iris and Roy married January 14, 1951 in Colorado City, Texas. Roy was in the Army and soon after they wed he was shipped overseas. Iris went back home to Colorado City to wait for the time she could join Roy. When Iris was reunited with Roy they were stationed in various places in Europe and the United States, they eventually settled in Bell County Texas. They were happily married for 65 years.

Iris loved life, embracing everything life had to offer, she was an avid gardener, enjoying sewing, quilting and crocheting, but most of all visiting and caring for her family and friends. Iris always said that her favorite time was when all her family got together.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Florence Martin, her sister Alena Collier and her brother Robert Martin.

Iris is survived by her spouse Roy Kneese of Belton, Texas; her children Roy Jr. and (Theresa) Kneese of Arlington Texas, Gerry and (David) Pustka of Taylor Texas, James and (Martha) Kneese of Midlothian, and Danny and (Tracy) Kneese of Belton Texas; her brother Jackie Martin of Irving Texas; Iris also leaves behind a legacy of eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives at visitation at Dossman Funeral Home , 2525 North Main Street, Belton Texas, on April 11, 2016 from 06:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m. The celebration of Iris's life will be held at Dossman’s on the 12th of April at 02:00 p.m. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.
