Billy Joe Drake, 81, of Belton passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in Belton.

Funeral services for Billy will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton with Chaplain Dub Falcone officiating. Burial will follow at Moffat Cemetery in Moffat.

Billy was born on September 28, 1934 in Kerens, Texas to Charlie and Selma (Lonsford) Drake. Mr. Drake married Frances Brown on December 21, 1957 in Belton, Texas. Billy began working as a painter in the Central Texas area shortly after moving here. His work ethic was only eclipsed by his love for his family and friends. Mr. Drake worked for over 60 years, finally retiring at the young age of 77 years old .

Billy is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Frances Drake of Belton, sons Billy Drake and his wife Marie of Moody and Kenneth Drake and his wife Teresa of Belton, daughters Rita Anderson of Belton and Donna Hodge and her husband Michael of Flower Mound, a brother Mackie Drake of Sheridan, sisters Carol Hobbs of Sheridan, Kathy Devillier and Charlsie Smith both of Vidor, Callie Brown of Belton, and Anna Schroder of Hearne. He is also survived by grandsons Anthony Williamson of Moody, Todd Hodge of Temple, Coby Drake of Morgan Mills, Ricky Anderson of Belton, and Chayton and Pierce Drake of Belton. Also surviving Mr. Drake are his granddaughters Amber Finch of Oviedo, Fl., Ashley Drake of Belton, and Brooke and Tiffany Hodge of Flower Mound, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

A visiation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
