Eldene “Smitty” Schmidtberger

A celebration of life service for Eldene “Smitty” Schmidtberger, 69, of Belton, will be held at 2 PM Saturday June 25, 2016 at The Magnolia House at Cathedral Oaks in Belton

Mr. Schmidtberger died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 5, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Linus Schmidtberger and Irene (Eulert) Schmidtberger. He married Rita Ann Capps on May 30, 1969 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Constellation and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired in 2013 after a long career in management with Walmart.

Survivors include his wife Rita Schmidtberger of Belton; a daughter, Wendy Nichols and husband Audie of Belton; his parents, Linus and Irene Schmidtberger of Corpus Christi, two brothers, Alan Schmidtberger and wife Evie of Floresville, Texas and Bryan Schmidtberger- Churchwell and brother- in- law Shane of San Diego, California; a sister, Barbara Bishop of Corpus Christi, and two grandchildren, Derek Bouteller and Leah Bouteller.

Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of arrangements.
