Memorial services for Mona Lucille McAfee, 89, of Temple, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Kristi Eck officiating.
Mrs. McAfee died Monday, July 4, 2016 in a Temple nursing center.
Mona was born July 16, 1926 in Streator, Illinois to Edward and Nadine (Davis) Mosell. She married Bryan Thomas McAfee June 23rd 1949 on the Air Force Base in Alaska where they lived until 1951 when they moved to Texas. She was a homemaker who cared for and nurtured her family, providing a loving home for her children and husband. Mona was a faith-filled christian woman who taught her family to love above all else. She was always taking care of those around her whether it
be a slew of animals or a host of grand-babies. Mona thoroughly enjoyed raising her rabbits
and was an amazing artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971 and a son Michael Ramon McAfee in 1951, two brothers Oris Edward Mosell and Richard Wallas Mosell, one sister Roma Alberta Matthewman.
Survivors include two sons Sterling Wayne McAfee and his wife Jill of Temple and Justin Wade McAfee of Kentucky; seven daughters Ola Nadine Atkins and husband Jim of Florida, Tommie Lucille Ruehs and husband Pete of
Michigan, Mona Elizabeth Williams and husband Lee of Lott, Brianne Edna
DeCelles and husband Ted of Tennessee, Roma Jean Caughlin and husband Tim
of Belton, Janice Kay McAfee and David “Mac” McIntosh of Temple
and Becky Colleen Nunnallee and Donnie
Mears of Lorena; one sister Marilyn Jean Powell and husband Leon of San Marcos; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital for cancer research.
