Jacob Benjamin Sheeler

CW2 (Retired) Jacob Benjamin Sheeler, 87, of Temple passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Temple.

Funeral services for Mr. Sheeler will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Keys Valley Baptist Church in Belton with Rev. John Roark officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 12:00 noon at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Jacob was born on December 1, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma to Harmon and Leta Mae (Athey) Sheeler. He joind the Army in 1951 and served honorably for over 21 years before retirement. While in the Army, Mr. Sheeler was deployed and served two tours in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star while there. After his retirement from the Army, Jacob went to work in Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma until his retirement after almost twenty years. Mr. Sheeler moved to Central Texas in 2005 and was a member of Keys Valley Baptist Church. He married Charlene Caudell in Del City, Oklahoma in 1954, and she preceded him in death in 2012.

Mr. Sheeler is survived by sons Mark Sheeler and his wife Teri of Belton, and James Sheeler and his wife Joyce of Oklahoma, sisters Phyllis Soldano, Joan Schoenecke, Lorraine Woodman, and Gloria Allen all of Washington, three grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday eveing from 5:30 to 7:30 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
