Percy Andrew Francis

A Celebration of Life service for Percy Andrew Francis, 88, of Belton, will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2016 , at the Northside Church of Christ in Temple.  A private burial will be held prior to the service.

The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.

Mr. Francis died Saturday, August 20, 2016 in a Temple hospital.

Mr. Francis was born April 23, 1928, the son of C. O. “Buster” Francis and Lillie (Stephens) Francis in Lindsay, California.  He was a graduate of Lindsay High School and Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.  He also studied special courses in college business management at the University of Kentucky.

He married Anna Marie (Anne) Carter August 12, 1950 in Searcy, Arkansas.

In 1957, Mr. Francis was one of the group of 14 men that founded Lubbock Christian College, currently Lubbock Christian University. He served as the college’s Business Manager for 13 years. In 1973, Mr. Francis became the Vice President of Business Services at Temple Junior College and held that position until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Temple and had previously served as an elder at Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple.

He was a veteran of the Army, having served two and a half years with the Occupation Army in Japan. He also served three year in the Army Reserve.

Survivors include his wife Anne Francis of Belton, one son John C. Francis and wife Karen of Belton, one brother Leonard Francis of Lubbock and one sister Norma Stafford of Magnolia.  Three grandchildren, Clayton Francis and wife Adrien of Broken Arrow, OK, Elizabeth Francis Kirchmeier and husband Danny of Temple and Ashlie Francis of San Angelo.  Mr. Francis has two great-granddaughters, Madelyn Francis and Hazel Kirchmeier with a great-grandson expected soon.
