Nancy Akin Bailey

Funeral services for Nancy Akin Bailey, 77, of Belton will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Scott Neal officiating.  Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, at 1 PM, one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Bailey died Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at her home in Belton.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Port Arthur, October 3 1938, the daughter of Charles Shelton "Shel" Akin and Adell Davis Akin.  She attended Bandera schools all 12 years and was a 1957 honor graduate of Bandera High School.  Nancy became a member of the Bandera High School Band when she was in the 6th grade and was a Band Majorette during her four years in High School.   As an adult, Nancy received a teaching degree at Sam Houston State University. She was an accomplished musician on the piano and saxophone, teaching piano for over 25 years and playing in churches all across the state of Texas. She was a member of the Belton Church of Christ.

Nancy’s ancestors were early settlers of Bandera County that included the Akins, Davises, and Mayfields.  Nancy married Henry Virgle “H.V.” O’Bryant in Bandera, Texas on March 17, 1957. Nancy married Duryl “Gibby” Bailey in Mexia, Texas on July 14, 1987.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by one sister, Janelle Ruth Akin Nesting who proceeded her in death in 1964. Also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Tanya O’Bryant.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Gibby, her sons, Chuck O’Bryant, Randy O’Bryant and wife Kathy, and daughter,Nanell O’Bryant Neal, and husband Scott. Also survived by her children by marriage, Keith Middleton Bailey and wife Sissy, Boyce Craig Bailey and wife Mary, and Doak Herring Bailey and wife Amy. Nancy was blessed to be granted eleven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren as well as other family and friends too numerous to count.

Memorials may be made to the Medina Children's Home.
