Raymond Vernon Chipman, Sr.

Raymond Vernon Chipman, Sr., 69, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2016. He was born on October 12, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas to George and Evelyn Martin Chipman. He has lived in the Belton area for the last 40 years.

Raymond married Glenda Sue Kelley on March 31, 1966 in Monahans, Texas. Together they raised one daughter, Rebecca Chipman, and two sons, Raymond Chipman, Jr., and Kenneth Chipman.

Raymond was a self employed construction worker. He was the owner of Chipman Construction until he retired.

Raymond was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Belton. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, family, and especially his dog Midnight. He was known as "Pop" to many.

Raymond was preceded in death by his mother and father and brothers Richard Chipman and Robert Chipman. His wife Sue passed away in August of 2005.

He is loved, missed, and survived by his daughter Rebecca Chipman of Temple, sons Raymond Chipman, Jr. of Belton and Kenneth Chipman of Temple and daughter in law Ashley Chipman of Temple, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, George Chipman and John Chipman, and two sisters, Debbie Blair and Patricia Dake, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton with Chaplain Sarah Miller officiating. Burial will follow in North Belton Cemetery in Belton. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5-7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home.
