Virginia Jinny Porterfield

Virginia 'Jinny" Rhoads Porterfield, 92, of Austin passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Austin.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Moody Cemetery in Moody with Rev. Tony Watson officiating.

Jinny was born on December 4, 1924 in Waco, Texas to James and Dorothy (Melton) Rhoads. She grew up in Moody and graduated from Bruceville/Eddy High School. Mrs. Porterfield married David Porterfield, Sr. on December 24, 1942 in Waco and he preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Porterfield moved to the Austin area in 1957. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Pflugerville. Jinny was an avid bowler, gardener, and a master of any and every card game.

Jinny was preceded in death by her husband and a son Skot Porterfield. She is survived by her son David Porterfield of Marble Falls, daughter Suzy Farrell and her husband Don of Pflugerville, brother James Rhoads and his wife Wanda of Temple, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
