Patricia Kay Anderson

November 29, 1939 — October 3, 2017

Patricia Kay Anderson, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Temple after a brave battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Belton with Pastor Luke officiating. A private burial will take place in Swenson Cemetery in Stevens County, Texas.

Kay was born November 29, 1939 in Breckenridge, TX to Donald Raymond and Flora Lane Anderson (Townsend).  She grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1958.  After graduation she moved to Belton and attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College and graduated in 1963 with a BA in Religion and Sociology.  Kay then attended Tulane University School of Social Work where she obtained her MSW in 1967.  Kay loved to learn and did additional graduate work at Texas Woman's University.

After graduation she worked as a Social Worker in Beeville, Ft. Worth, and Sherman, TX, a Social Work Administrator in Fredericksburg and Belton, TX before joining the staff at Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1974 as the Alumni Director.  In 1976, Kay became a member of the Social Work Faculty and remained in this position until 2005.

Kay's love and passion was Mary Hardin- Baylor and her amazing CRU. She was so proud of all the athletic organizations on campus and anytime family came to visit they received a tour of her beautiful campus, with special emphasis on the banner proudly displayed on the 2016 NCAA Division III National Football Championship. Her greatest legacy is left with the countless students and individuals she mentored and counseled during her career as a social worker.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Belton, National Association of Social Workers, and Academy of Certified Social Workers.  Kay was the former chair of the Texas Field Educators Consortium and she served as the International President of the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Science from 1996-2002.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents.

Kay is survived by many loving cousins and friends and her precious little dog Pixie.

In Lieu of flowers, Kay requested memorials be given to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Belton. Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of the arrangements.
