Dr. Patricia O'Connor, 92, of Belton passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Christ The King Catholic Church in Belton with Bishop Joe Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
Patricia was born on December 11, 1925 in Houston, Texas to Arthur and Irene O'Connor. She spent her childhood in Belton and received her bachelor's degree in Linguistics from the University of Texas, later completing her doctorate. Dr. O'Connor taught at various universities including Brown University in Rhode Island, Stanford University in California, The University of Texas in Austin, and St. Edwards University in Austin. Patricia was actively involved with Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat in Temple following the donation of the land by her parents to the Diocese of Austin. She served on the board of directors at Cedarbrake for over 25 years and was instrumental in the expansion during the 90's of a chapel, library, numerous houses, and the conference center. She also served on the board of directors of the Temple/Belton Animal Shelter.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home, and a Rosary will be recited at 7 PM by Brian Egan.
