SSG (Ret.) Duane M. Hahn, 89, of Temple passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Wm. R. Courtney Veterans Nursing Home in Temple.
Funeral services for Mr. Hahn will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Michael Dunson officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Duane was born on October 9, 1928 in Minnewaukan, North Dakota to Walter and Abel (Erickson) Hahn. He was raised in Minnewaukan and attended schools there. Mr. Hahn joined the US Army in 1949 and served honorably for over 24 years before retiring. During his military service, he was deployed to Vietnam four times, earning a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster , a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, along with numerous other awards. After retirement, Mr. Hahn worked for a time with the highway department. He married Charlene (Whitten) on April 27, 1979 in Coryell County, Texas and she preceded him in death in 2014.
Mr. Hahn is survived by step son Mack Smith, Jr., step daughter Charlotte Temple, brother Donald Hahn, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 1 great great grandchild.
A visitation will take place from 1-2 PM on Wednesday at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
