Services for Eloy "Woody" Gilbert Ortega Jr., age 57, of Belton will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father James Misko officiating. Mr. Ortega died Friday in a Temple nursing home. He was born May 20, 1955 at Fort Hood, Texas to Eloy Gilbert Ortega Sr. and Minnie Martinez Ortega. He grew up in Belton and was a graduate of Belton High School. He worked for Griggs Equipment, Smith Brothers Grocery, Wal-mart and also the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He loved carpentry and woodworking. Survivors include his mother, Minnie Ortega of Belton, one brother, Robert Ortega of Temple; five sisters, Lisa Canales of Austin, Sylvia Ortega of St. Cloud, Florida, Rebecca Ortega of Belton, Rosa Ortega Gomez and husband Carlos and Angela Ortega Hernandez and husband Renaldo of Spring. Nieces and nephews, Jesse Ortega, Antonio Garcia III, Candace Garcia, Krystal Canales, Lauren Gomez, Halaena Hernandez, Reese Hernandez, Alessandra Hernandez, Tabitha Copeland, Ashton Beatty and Madelyn Roop. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the American Diabetes Foundation.
